We shall strive to provide a setting for congregate living which is a community having values arising from our shared faith experience and from our historic position as an institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
Provide attractive services of the highest quality that cater to the lifestyles of the residents.
We intend to provide a lifestyle characterized by comfort and security, a lifestyle which emphasizes the social aspects of existence as well as its physical ones, and a lifestyle that mirrors that enjoyed by a majority of our members before becoming residents with us.
Operate in a fiscally sound manner while developing resources to serve those who need financial assistance to be served by Aldersgate.
We believe that our mission anticipates and requires good stewardship of what we have received. We also believe that a vital part of our mission is to develop the resources to permit us to help those who could not otherwise receive services
from us.
Assisted Living
Parker Terrace provides the services of residential and medical assisted living where qualified and dedicated staff work together to assist members with various activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing. The staff is committed to incorporating this assistance into the daily lives of residents in such a way as to maintain the residents’ dignity and still provide the necessary care. This level of care in our overall ministry allows individuals who may need some assistance, to live independently for as long as they can. Since these services are offered in the same building as some of the independent living residences, assisted living members can continue to maintain quality relationships with friends and family members who continue to live independently.
Memory Support
At Cuthbertson Village, Aldersgate is able to offer assisted living services in a very unique environment for individuals who are experiencing the challenges that come with a diagnosis of a dementia illness such as Alzheimer’s disease.
Based on the concept of the familiarity and comfort of small-town America, Cuthbertson Village is designed with three neighborhoods that lead into an active, engaging Town Square. This central Square has an expansive skylight that allows the daylight to pour in onto the working shops, attractive spaces to relax and walking paths that wind around and over a small pond with a babbling fountain. The Five and Dime, Soda Shoppe, and Movie Theater all offer residents opportunities for appropriate stimulation and activities to engage their memories as much as possible. The pet shop allows those who live at Cuthbertson Village to help in caring for the dogs, birds and other pets that are part of life at Aldersgate, which adds to the sense of self-worth we all experience when we help give care to another life. And the Potting Shed provides residents the chance to continue to enjoy their “green thumbs†with gardening tables for growing vegetables, herbs and flowers. The Town Square also offers the services of a beauty and barber shop as well as a day spa for manicures and pedicures.
Each neighborhood in Cuthbertson Village is home to fifteen individuals who each have their own private residence and full bath. Staff serve meals from the country kitchen to residents who enjoy dining with others in the dining room that is special to each neighborhood.
Recognizing the importance of freedom of movement for individuals with dementia, not only does each of the neighborhoods open into the Town Square, but each neighborhood has its own courtyard that opens into the other courtyards, all of which are completely secured.
We know we can’t prevent or stop Alzheimer’s disease, right now, but we strive to provide the greatest opportunity for stimulating and engaging the minds of older adults in hopes that perhaps we can delay the progression as much as possible, and to certainly assure the greatest opportunity for as much independence and quality of life as possible.
